Carey Johnson, owner and operator of Al Cabones, is from Tampa, FL. Carey has been associated with dog and cat rescue all her life. She volunteered at the Humane Society on Hilton Head Island and was on the board. Her husband's monthly magazine donated a column in the magazine where a dog or cat was spotlighted in hopes of finding them a forever home.

Carey also became the unofficial wild life rehabber for the small island where she had the joy of bottle-feeding many orphaned deer and racoon. Until recently, she was the southeast director for a national dog rescue for more than 11 years. She still supports and assists all rescues!

Carey was in the legal field for 30 years until one day, with a lot of encouragement from her friends and fellow rescuers, she let her life go to the dogs, literally. Between the 24/7 rescue work, the 24/7 dog walking and in-home boarding and perfecting the cabones, Carey was exhausted but kept trudging on.

She called on all the local healthy and all natural stores in her area to convince them how wonderful the cabones are and urge them to carry them in their stores. The days and nights were very long but SO worth it.

Most of the dogs that stay with Carey are special needs and/or hospice, including her foster dog, Sasha. Working from home making the cabones allows her to be there for all the big and little medically needy dogs in her home. All the dogs that stay in Carey's home are pampered and get freshly made broth with chicken pieces every night over their dinner as well as all the cabones they can handle!
